Carey Price and Jeff Petry among those who took to the ice

This afternoon, the Canadian was training as an option following the game the day before in New Jersey. After an overnight flight to Toronto for tomorrow’s game, the players had the option of taking this easy.

But Carey Price, who is on the road to train for his return to the game, did not take the option. With (in particular) Martin St-Louis, Price jumped on the ice to untie his legs a bit.

Of course, no need to remind you that Price’s goal is to play this year. It shouldn’t happen tomorrow against the Maple Leafs, but a Monday comeback against the Winnipeg Jets at the Bell Center isn’t out of the question.

Remember that he wants to play for several reasons, which undoubtedly include the desire to prove to himself that he can still play in the NHL despite the pitfalls of recent months and to show many people that he is still Carey Price.

So we see that Price took shots from a few different people (including Ryan Poehling) once on the ice. He responded well, from what we can see in the video posted on Twitter this afternoon.

It’s a good sign, right?

He is not, however, the only notable name to have decided to jump on the ice. Jeff Petry, who is obviously in Toronto with his teammates, also got dressed and went skating with Martin St-Louis.

It is not the first time that he has skated with the team, as confirmed by Arpon Basu, journalist for The Athletic. Petry skated in New Jersey with her teammates.

Remember that he too wants to return to the game this year. Otherwise, Kent Hughes would have sent him back to Michigan, near his family… but this is not the case. Petry will return home only when he has the assurance that he can play no more for the year, which is not the case yet.

To see him on the road with the boys to try to come back is also, in my own book, a good thing and a proof of his good faith.
